David Carter's website

Welcome. The aim of this site is to give access to my writings, chiefly on Methodist and ecumenical matters. The site is still under construction, but a few sample papers are already available.  Clicking on the links will display or download a pdf file of the paper concerned.  I list my entire scholarly output in the bibliography attached to this website but nearly all the articles being put on the website for the time being relate to work since 2005 for which pdfs are available. Earlier work is listed in my bibliography; in a few cases I may have extant print-offs of earlier work which I could send to anyone who applies with an urgent need/interest.

Areas of work:

1. General ecumenical and ecclesiological papers.

2. Methodist history, theology, spirituality.

3. Methodist-Roman Catholic Dialogue.

4. Other dialogues.

5. Petrine Ministry and Pope Francis.
6. Lutheranism
7. Miscellaneous

The materials posted on this website were produced by me in furtherance of developing understanding of the many varying traditions within the Christian Church and, above all, in furtherance of the cause of Christian unity in accordance with our Lord’s own prayer ‘that they all may be one’ (John 17:21). I am happy to see them used in any bona fide meeting or publication furthering Christian unity.  There is no need in such situations to seek copyright permission from me. However, I do assert my moral right to be identified as author when cited in any publication, along with reference to such book or journal in which the relevant article, entry or chapter is cited. Please note that in a very few cases I have had to assign copyright to a publisher. Where that is the case it is noted at the end of such article etc; it would then be necessary for me to tell you who to approach for copyright permission.
